In response to a growing need to identify and support neurodivergence across the UK prison population, PSUK have developed a specialist service, offering assessment, consultancy and staff awareness training for those living or working in a forensic setting. Working in collaboration with some of the UK's leading experts in the neurodivergence field to advance and expand our practice, our team of associates can diagnose or identify salient markers of the following neurodivergent conditions; all of which can impact on an individual's risk and responsivity to interventions:
Autism, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disability / Impaired Cognitive Functioning (IQ), Impaired Executive Functioning, Memory Loss / Cognitive Decline (as a marker of dementia or other brain trauma), Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia and Tourette Syndrome.
As well as working with incarcerated men and women, PSUK associates are also able to offer neurodivergence assessments for adolescents involved with the criminal justice system (typically in relation to autism and / or ADHD). Our specialist forensic knowledge enables us to create comprehensive case formulations; enabling schools, families and relevant agencies to view and understand the young person's behaviours within a neurodivergence framework. We can then offer bespoke recommendations to parents and other stakeholders for support, intervention and risk management.
