Laura Baker BSc C.Psychol MBPsS

Laura is an experienced BPS Chartered and HCPC Registered Forensic Psychologist. She is trained to the equivalent of Doctorate level with 13 years of experience working alongside healthcare professionals and senior managers in a prison environment.

Laura studied Psychology at Cardiff University and graduated with a 2:1 classification Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in 2002. In 2006, she commenced her training in Forensic Psychology with H M Prison Service. During this time, she gained considerable experience in the risk assessment of sexual and violent offenders and delivery of cognitive-behavioural treatment programmes. From 2008-2012, Laura worked as the Development and Evaluation Lead for JETS; a cognitive skills programme for Juvenile offenders. This involved preparation and presentation at the Correctional Services Accreditation Panel which saw JETS maintain its programme accreditation status.

Since qualifying in 2012, Laura has continued to develop her skills and expertise in conducting a range of psychological assessments, presenting as a professional witness within quasi-judicial settings and supervising Forensic Psychologists in Training (FPiT). In 2014-2016, Laura was employed as a Senior Registered Forensic Psychologist by HMPPS Greater London Psychological Services. During this time, she acted as the Regional Thematic Lead for Research and was a Coordinating Supervisor.

During the 2017 financial year, Laura established her own business as a sole trader and began work as an Academic Supervisor for Cardiff Metropolitan University. In addition, she gained an independent contract with the Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service (HCPTS) as a Fitness to Practice Panel Member.
