Leiya's interest in the field of psychology began early in her academic career. After completing her undergraduate degree with a major in Psychology in 2010 she gained experience in the field of mental health. Following this, she progressed onto completing a master’s degree at Middlesex University London, and doctorate in forensic psychology and the University of Birmingham.
Throughout her training and work, Leiya has gained considerable experience of assessing and treating a variety of populations within high secure and medium secure settings, working with both male and female clients.
Leiya is skilled in the administration of a diverse range of psychological and risk assessment tools. She is trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) as well as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD.
Leiya's current role is within a High Secure Hospital working with male offenders with a range of complex mental health needs and personality difficulties. Leiya also has specific experience of working with offenders with Personality Disorder.
Leiya has been a University guest lecturer delivering teaching within the field of forensic psychology to master's students at Kingston and Canterbury University.
Leiya gained Chartership with the British Psychological Society and is registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Forensic) with the Health and Care Professions Council.
