Owen holds a bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of York and attained his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hull in 2012.
Owen has worked across a range of criminal justice settings, including secure hospitals, probation, HMPPS prisons and private secure settings. He has experience of assessing high risk, high harm offenders, especially those with personality difficulties. His work has covered all areas of offending, including serious violent and sexual offending. He is trained and practised in a number of structured risk assessments, as well as being proficient in the selection, use and interpretation of psychometric assessment tools. Owen is an accredited Group Schema Therapist and has significant further training in trauma presentations.
Owen is a Clinical Psychologist and is registered with the HCPC. He is currently employed by the University of Birmingham where he is a lecturer and supervisor on the Forensic Clinical Psychology Doctorate.
