Patricia is a practicing Chartered Forensic Psychologist with over 15 years' experience of working with offenders in a forensic setting. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2004. Following this she secured an Assistant Psychologist post within the private prison sector and, shortly after this, became a Forensic Psychologist in Training. During this time, she worked to achieve her MSc in Forensic Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University.
During her 15 years' service with the private prison sector, Patricia achieved a number of promotional opportunities. Latterly, she assumed the role of 'Head of Risk Management and Interventions' at HMP Kilmarnock which required her to manage teams and lead on the delivery of Psychology, Prisoner Programmes and Offender Case-Management Services, ensuring compliance with MAPPA and Order of Lifelong Restriction requirements. She regularly provided psychological input to Senior Management, Risk Management and Multi-disciplinary Mental Health forums. Patricia has prior experience of presenting evidence to the Parole Board for Scotland and Fatal Accident Inquiries.
Patricia has a wealth of experience in the delivery and treatment management of group-based interventions aimed at addressing violence and substance-related offending. She has also developed and delivered individual interventions for those who have been unable to access group-based interventions and / or present with complex responsivity issues or particular needs. During her time at HMP Kilmarnock, Patricia designed, implemented and coordinated a local Staff Support service, which was supported by her accredited training in Group Crisis Intervention. Patricia is also trained and experienced in the application of a range of assessments including the HCR-20, RSVP, SARA and IPDE.
Currently, as well as being an Associate of PSUK, Patricia continues to provide psychology services for the private prison sector on a sessional basis. Patricia is a Chartered member of the BPS and is registered with the HCPC as a Forensic Psychologist.
