Tanya graduated from the University of Sheffield with a BSc in Psychology and completed a Masters in Forensic Psychology.
Currently, Tanya works within a secure hospital as the psychologist for a medium secure personality disorder ward, providing assessment, treatment and consultancy. Tanya has experience in a range of assessments, including those in personality disorder, fire setting, violent and sexual offending.
Prior to her current role, Tanya spent 11 years working for HM Prison Service in Category B and High Secure Prisons. During this time, she achieved Chartership status with the British Psychological Society. Within her roles in HMPPS, Tanya developed her knowledge and skills in the assessment and treatment of violent offenders, including in her role as the treatment manager for the Self Change Programme ('SCP') for the treatment of high risk violent offenders. She took a leading role in developing a rehabilitative culture within the prison environment, and in developing a service to progress men out of long term segregation.
Tanya has an interest in trauma-informed care and is taking a lead role in a project to embed trauma-informed care in a secure hospital. She has an interest in the risk assessment and management of individuals with personality difficulties, complex trauma, and schema therapy in forensic services.
